Salty Bread Rolls

Homemade Salty Bread Rolls are very tasty when they are hot, straight out of the oven! They are also great the other day, but hot are just irresistible.

While making the dough, you will notice that it is quite soft, but if after rising it is still too soft to shape, feel free to add a little more flour.

Ingredients for 8 rolls:
  • 500 g of flour (prepare a little more flour on the side, which you will add when shaping the rolls if the dough is too soft)
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 small bag of dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 260 ml of lukewarm water
  • salty topping: 2 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, little bit of water
Preparation:
  1. Knead the dough from the listed ingredients, it would be best to knead it with a mixer (dough hooks), because it is quite soft.

  1. Leave it for about an hour in a warm place to double the size.
  2. Then take it out of the bowl, knead with hands a little bit more, and if it is too soft for you to shape it, gradually add a little more flour.
  1. Then cut it into 8 pieces.
  1. Roll each piece into a circle, and roll it up to look like a crepes (thin pancake)
  1. Place the resulting rolls in a baking pan, on a baking paper.
  2. Preheat the oven to 392°F, cover the rolls with a kitchen cloth and let it rise a little more.
  3. Bake rolls for about 20 minutes.
  4. When they are almost done, (when they turn brown), take them out and sprinkle with salty topping.
  1. You will get a salty topping by mixing 2 tablespoons of flour, 1 small tablespoon of salt, and about 5 tablespoons of water. The mixture should be a little thicker than for crepes.
  2. You can sprinkle the salty topping with a fork or spoon, then return them to the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes until they are done.
